Aquilion ONE™

Otawara, Japan, September 25, 2012 - Achieving a milestone in the advancement of computed tomography (CT) in the practice of diagnostic medicine, Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation announced the production of the 500th Aquilion ONE™ system, which is to be installed at PRP Diagnostic Imaging at Norwest Private Hospital in Australia. Toshiba and PRP Diagnostic Imaging have developed a strong relationship over the years which will see the installation of the 6th Aquilion ONE system within the PRP network.

Aquilion ONE provides up to 16-cm coverage per gantry rotation and permits fast scanning with low dose. It also incorporates Toshiba's unique reconstruction technique, Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3D (AIDR 3D). The clinical usefulness of low-dose dynamic volume imaging, which can be performed only with the 320-row Aquilion ONE, is widely recognized.

"Leading clinical experts have been actively involved in developing unique and exciting clinical applications exclusively for the Aquilion ONE. The adoption of these unique applications globally has allowed us to reach the production of the 500th Aquilion ONE system” said Yasuo Nobuta, Vice President and General Manager, CT Systems Division, Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation. “ We hope to expand these applications even further to improve patient care, while at the same time minimizing the overall cost of healthcare to an even larger patient population globally by aiming to reach production of the 1000th Aquilion ONE system."

"The Aquilion ONE, with its advanced dose reduction technology, AIDR 3D, and ultrafast scan speeds allow us to dramatically lower radiation dose and reduce examination times without sacrificing image quality or diagnostic accuracy.” said Jonathan Page, Chief Operating Officer, PRP Diagnostic Imaging. “We are extremely pleased to be able to provide our patients with the benefits of such state-of-the-art technology."
